This is not an original find with me, I saw it in another forum. It had me wonder if Eric was replaced, but the pictures that were posted on that site were not really comparable. So I didn't use any references to that site. I need to see side by side pics, but here are two links the first shows him with the Yardbirds and one was taken only a year or two ago. www.eric-clapton.co.uk/pictures/johncreambfetc/ericclaptonwiththeyardbirds.jpghttp:www.eric-clapton.co.uk/pictures/reptiletour/eric3.jpg I don't want to jump to conclusions that anyone who was anyone had been replaced. Here are some reasons why I could believe Eric had been replaced. 1- the close association with the Beatles, esp. George Harrison causes me to wonder, they bonded post 1966. 2. Also the difference in styles of playing from the old days and now. The Clapton of today does not have great solos as the former days. Today's music is lame compared to the true Clapton of the 60's and early 70's. 3. The old-well-worn cliche of "not being in the public spotlight for a long time period" and "he had been heavy into drugs"..these excuses for why someone looks so different has been played over and over for many people, just a bit too over-used excuse for why someone looks different. (Example of how this isn't always the case, Keith Richards, he's used more drugs than Elvis, Beatles and Grateful Dead combined and you know it's the same man, with a grey complexion, but it's him.) I don't believe all rock stars were replaced of course, some have lived through the 60's and heavy drug use. But this one had me wondering. I'm not totally sure of this, I had wanted to post this for some time, but I had hesitated on posting, but I figure, I will now.

Well, I've been trying to get RRD to do some fades, but... so far totally ignored. I left that open because I wanted people to look for themselves.. I believe that Eric was replaced sometime in 1972/73. Like you say, the change in style is quite apparent (to me.) With regard to the face, while I see different people, the biggest difference is in the eyes... they are slanted differently. Eric has eyes that slant slightly upwards, Feric's slant slightly down. The Eric of today has a colder look to him... The real Eric was a fairly thin lanky fellow, while 'Feric' is a bit chunkier, not so lanky. Also, there may have been an interim replacement..although I'm not too sure about that. Thanks for looking LovelyRita.. Here's the link to TKIN thread, it's a mess but it sums up what I've dug up so far.. 60if.proboards21.com/index.cgi?board=CelebRepl&action=display&thread=1098605945

RRD may only do McCartney related fades. Some people are just into revealing JPM or Faul items.
I had seen that thread, that's where I first had pondered the replacing of Eric Clapton. But those pics posted were not fades, or side by side pics, (like Nicolas does in this forum). So I didn't want to jump to conclusions that Eric was definitely replaced.
I'm not one to jump on the replacement bandwagon for everybody down the pike. I do like to think about the dates of times that someone allegedly disappears from the spotlight. Most famous people do take a period of time off between albums and after tours, but it's usually only for a few months, and then reports are given they are back in the studios working on new material. I try to think about if these people had been given an unusual length of time out of the spotlight and what goes on during that time, like stories of accidents, drug abuse and so called recovery, or alcholism, etc. Changes of looks, styles, attitudes, how they act also causes me to think about anything suspcious.
Some of the things I had either posted myself, or have pondered what others post I examine what's given and try to research things as best as one can on google.
I agree that Eric was probably replaced about that post 1972 era, after Derek and the Dominoes. Layla was his lovecry for Patty Boyd, George's wife. So I'm thinking that it was after that when Duane Allman was "killed" and that probably was also the key to the demise of Clapton, (So we are told) into the herion. It was quite some time that we heard of him, perhaps a year or so later and what do we get? "I Shot the Sherriff" and "Lay Down Sally". One a revamped Marley song and another lame country sounding song. No elaborate guitar riffs, not really much guitar playing at all. Does this sound like the same man whose guitar gently wept, or who was part of Bluesbreakers, Yardbirds, Cream, etc?
The material since has been what? "Tears in Heaven" "If I Could Change the World", lame ballads and the guitar solos he may have attempted in those jam concerts have been lame in comparison. I do wonder if the two abovementioned songs have clues in themselves? (That's another subject)
I do see that Eric had a full face, and strong jawline, Feric has a narrower jawline. Feric has more chiseled features. One of those eye matches would be great, but I don't know how to do those things, and I don't have the technology to either. But I would like to be able to see full face shots of both, and you can match ears, jaws, neck, head, etc. But I think the musical evidence leans toward some drastic change.
An interim replacement makes sense, but I haven't seen pics from that period. Thanks for your imput.

The true Eric Clapton was a guitar genius... That's why they called him GOD! No one could ever replace him.
Have you heard the latest song from Feric...
REVOLUTION
I told you once, I told you twice You never listen to my advice Good kind treatment, I’m through with you Won't get to heaven, I don't care what you do
I seen you changin from day to day Nothin never gets in your way Don't feel nothin for no one else Take what you want, jus help yo self
(chorus) (say you wanna, say you wanna) Now you want a Revolution (Want a revolution) A revolution now (Say you wanna, say you wanna) Say you wanna a revolution (Wanna revolution) A revolution now
(Told you once) I told you twice (Ya never listen) To my advice (Now your out there) Your on your own Ain't got no friends, ain't got no home
(Getting mad) I'm gettin mad at you (Mad at you) Just don't like the way you do Don’t know where you think you been But your goin to wind up back there again
(Chorus) (say you wanna, say you wanna) Now you want a Revolution (Want a revolution) A revolution now (Say you wanna, say you wanna) You wanna a revolution (Wanna revolution) A revolution now Say wanna revolution (Say you wanna, say you wanna) Do you wanna revolution now?
(Revolution, a Revolution now) (Time has come) and it won't be long For you to see where you come from (You can't go back) Can't go back, can't stay the same No one but yourself to blame
(Chorus) (say you wanna, say you wanna) Now you want a Revolution (Want a revolution) A revolution now (Say you wanna, say you wanna) You wanna a revolution (Wanna revolution) A revolution now (Say you wanna, say you wanna) Do you wanna revolution now? (Revolution, a Revolution now)

"I told you once and I told you twice, but you never listen to my advice"....the first two lines of the Rolling Stones' "The Last Time"
"Say you wanna revolution...?" need not add anything to who wrote that song...
Sounds like Feric borrows lines from other people's songs....
I Shot The Sheriff, Lay Down Sally, Cocaine, Tears in Heaven, that lame slow version of Layla(which probably would have been more intense if Barry Mannilow recorded it.) and If I Could Change the World..... Feric's contributions
Eric was versatile, intense, awesome, truly amazing. Feric's attempts at solos are pitiful.
No wonder Patty Boyd's marriage to Feric fizzled, she found out his guitar didn't gently weep.

I wonder.. The Ipcress Fileen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austin_Powers#Original_sourcesfrom Wikipedia Austin's glasses are meant to be a reference to the glasses Michael Caine wore in The Ipcress File. When Caine was cast as Austin Powers' father, Nigel, in Austin Powers in Goldmember, he wore the actual pair of Harry Palmer glasses. Standard military issue..
